Sunrise over the Severn this morning. Gave fishing Sunrise over the Severn this morning. Gave fishing a shot with friends Erik and Lucas before the wind won the day. It was really blowing out there but we tried some protected areas. Didn’t get on any—there will be a next time. Beautiful day otherwise

Plenty of stripers runnin’ around the rivers right Plenty of stripers runnin’ around the rivers right now (crowded charters too). Packs here and there, in the mid-Severn for example. Found em several times over on a Sunday morning. Target shallows adjacent to deep water access. They roam and feed. I slowly cruise ideal areas with the quiet troll motor. Cast to likely spots for fun, then occasionally the schools show up in full force, some larger than others. Fun time to fish before the summer heat picks up. Most of these came on a white paddletail or a small bucktail

Run to Assateague Is. this wknd was cold, rainy, w Run to Assateague Is. this wknd was cold, rainy, windy, worthwhile. Nice fish hit (peeler crab, clams, sandfleas), birds everywhere, my brother joined for a night, campfires, heart healthy breakfast (egg whites and Gimme Lean “sausage”), a rainbow, sunsets, and them horses. Swell time

Found a spritely school of striped bass up to 30”i Found a spritely school of striped bass up to 30”ish, more or less. Not the giants, but fun to catch and release for about an hour in 3-6’ of relatively clean water over an expansive shoal. This was an early morning this week. The new moon helps. Interestingly, the bass were hitting the silver SP minnow but not fully taking it. So I tied on a smaller silver jerkbait. No hits at all. Hmmm. Switched back to the SP, but in gold bunker color. The fish ate it time and again! Go figure. When things aren’t quite working, change something. Colors, retrieve, scents, location, etc., etc.

It was a good Friday morning. Goals met. April c+r It was a good Friday morning. Goals met. April c+r is the real deal. Found a couple packs of chunky stripers in the Severn/Whitehall area, cruising in 4–6’. Got a few fish to eat. All on the SP minnow pictured. A bit foggy through morning and overcast, which was great. Calm water until 10:30am. Fish seemed to bite about an hour into the tide turning. Bite lasted maybe an hour tops. Give it a shot when the conditions align—the opportunity is out there…
