Anacostia River Festival

The National Park Service and the 11th Street Bridge Park will present the 9th Annual Anacostia River Festival today, Saturday, May 20th from 1 to 4 p.m. at Anacostia Park off Good Hope Road & Anacostia Drive SE. The 2023 Anacostia River Festival’s theme is “Breaking New Ground, 100 Years of Innovation.” The Anacostia River Festival focuses on improving the health of the Anacostia River and the exciting experiences you can have in Anacostia Park and on the river. The event is free. Anacostia Park welcomes District residents and visitors alike to communities and parks east of the river. The Wild & Scenic Film Festival is a one-of-a-kind fundraiser for the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay where staff selects 10-15 short films for our audiences to enjoy. Films highlight topics related to nature, community activism, adventure, conservation, water, energy and climate change, wildlife, environmental justice, agriculture, Native American, and indigenous culture. Overall, the Wild & Scenic Film Festival is designed to inspire a love for nature and activate audiences to take action in their communities through film and art. The event will be held at unique theater or theater-like venues across the watershed; in Virginia and Pennsylvania on March 9 and in Maryland and Washington, DC on March 16. Virginia Fly Fishing & Wine Festival

The 22nd Annual Virginia Fly Fishing & Wine Festival will be held at The Meadow Events Park, just a few miles outside of Richmond, Virginia, on January 14th and 15th, 2023. The festival — the largest event of its kind in the country, drawing fly anglers from as far away as New York and Georgia — appeals to anglers of all ages and stages. Festival attendees listen to lectures from various experts and practice hands-on skills at the two-day, family-friendly event. Several wineries from throughout the Old Dominion provide free wine tastings for those 21 and older. The festival will be held regardless of the weather.
