Maryland’s trout season officially opens March 29 at 6:30 a.m. Thousands of hatchery-raised brown, golden, and rainbow trout will be stocked in areas closed to fishing across the state in the weeks leading up to the event. Organized by Maryland Department of Natural Resources. A trout fishing opportunity just for youth anglers! Only individuals 15 and younger may fish in certain put-and-take trout areas from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. on March 22, one week before the traditional season opening. The areas that will be open only to youth on this day are those listed as Closure 1. The designated areas are listed by county below. Youth anglers may catch and keep up to two trout each, except brook trout, which must be released if caught. Click here for full details and statewide locations.
