HNY! Hiked into the headwaters today to find carp. HNY! Hiked into the headwaters today to find carp. Found a good number of them—all sizes, with some bigs in the mix. I tried method feeding and got them to nose the bait but couldn’t entice a really good take/hookset. Still learning this species and different techniques. Also saw the remnants of carp the eagles and hawks have been picking off. This is a fun winter pursuit!

As for the fishing…wrote a recap and posted to the site—thoughts on what was caught, not, and reasons/opinions why. Your mileage probably varies šŸ˜‰

Swirls and smiles today with these silly sallies. Swirls and smiles today with these silly sallies. From high noon tide til about 4pm, I searched for the esox in the little creeks of the upper Severn from the lil jon. Tough go but found a couple players when I switched from a white paddletail to dark gold. Nothing crazy or specimen size. Just simple winter fishing. There was more wind on the water than anticipated tho. H2O was 39F. These are such beautiful, wily fish.

Another gorgeous afternoon of pickerel fishing. It Another gorgeous afternoon of pickerel fishing. It was a repeat performance—multiple fish in back of creek, hitting a white 3ā€ paddletail gently worked in shallow water. Beautiful stuff

Fished the home creek and it took a while to find Fished the home creek and it took a while to find them, but in the last hour of light, I moved to the very back of it, where the bit of sun we had today shone the most, and found a bunch of em. A bunch. Landed 5, another 8 shook off. Largest landed only 22.75 but thick and healthy. All hit a white 3ā€ paddletail. It’s so peaceful this time of year. Good clean fun!
